Tras varios años de trabajo, The National han completado la grabación de “Day of the Dead”, un triple álbum de homenaje a Grateful Dead en el que participan, entre otros, The National, Wilco, The Flaming Lips, Courtney Barnett, Anohni, The War on Drugs, Bruce Hornsby, Justin Vernon, Bill Callahan, The Walkmen, Kurt Vile, J Mascis, Jenny Lewis, Tunde Adebimpe (TV on the Radio), Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Real Estate, Perfume Genius, Sharon Van Etten, Fucked Up, Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Grizzly Bear, Phosphorescent, Terry Riley, Stephen Malkmus, Lucinda Williams, Angel Olsen, Lee Ranaldo (ex Sonic Youth), Ira Kaplan (Yo La Tengo), Cass McCombs, y Richard Reed Parry (Arcade Fire). Las 59 canciones que contiene “Day of the Dead” han sido producidas por Aaron Dessner con la colaboración de Bryce Dessnery Josh Kaufman. El 20 de mayo es la fecha elegida para su lanzamiento.
