El año pasado se cumplieron cien años del fallecimiento del escritor Mark Twain (Samuel Langhorne Clemens). Para conmemorarlo, Carl Jackson reunió a un grupo de músicos country y a Clint Eastwood para grabar un disco de homenaje. El proyecto tuvo que retrasarse para que todos los participantes pudiesen grabar sus partes. Finalmente el doble álbum “Mark Twain: Words & Music” ve la luz. Con producción de Carl Jackson se cuenta la vida de Twain mediante partes hablas y canciones. Clint Eastwood encarna al propio Mark Twain, Jimmy Buffett (en cuyo estudio se ha realizado la grabación) es Huck Finn, Garrison Keillor ejerce de narrador, y Angela Lovell le presta su voz a la hija de Twain Angela Lovell. Las canciones corren a cargo de Emmylou Harris, Rhonda Vincent, Carl Jackson, Sheryl Crow y Vince Gill, entre otros.
