Ya se conoce el contenido y título de la antología de los Stmiths que ha preparado Rhino. Hang the DJ: The very best of the Smiths estará disponible en dos versiones: una que contendrá un solo CD y otra edición con dos CDs. Se pondrá a la venta el 7 de octubre.
La edición en un solo disco repasa la carrera de los Smiths, en orden cronológico, desde «Hand in Glove» hasta «Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me».
El disco extra de la segunda edición contiene caras B, versiones alternativas de “This Charming Man» y «Pretty Girls Make Graves», así como grabaciones en vivo de «Handsome Devil», «Meat’s murder», «What’s the World» y «London».
Morrissey, al igual que con su último DVD, no es partidario de la edición de esta antología.
